Meant to post sooner, but I got busy with the whole "post-vacation settling back into real life" thing.

On Friday, I decided to wear my Robin costume with a few modifications from when I wore it before on Halloween. My black boots have completely fallen apart, so I switched to my ass-kicking boots (red thigh high Doc Martens), and I also made some pouches for my utility belt to hold my phone and money. It was a lot of fun being in costume. I mean, how often do I get to wear a cape? J

I kicked off the morning with the Terry Moore panel, which was cool. He's a really funny guy and he had some good things to say for creative people figuring out how to break into their fields. He also talked about his new series Echo and his upcoming runs on Runaways and Spiderman Loves Mary Jane.

After that I went to the "50 Years of Gay Legion of Superheroes Fandom" for a little bit. I'm not really a big LOSH fan, but I had missed the LGBT panel the day before so I wanted to go to something queer at the Con. I ducked out early and headed to the DCU Online game panel w/ Jim Lee and about 5-6 other folks who have been working on the game. Saw some screenshots and models of characters. I'm still not sure on when the game is actually going to launch, but it looks like it's going to be pretty fun. World events, secret identity narratives for your character, a blend of costume choices and characters from all the Ages of comics, and possible future expansion packs (maybe even Earth-50). They had a demo of the game on the main floor, but it was pretty crowded. There was also a demo of Lego Batman at the DC booth. Man, I can't wait to get that game when it comes out.

I met up with my friends, bought some over-priced food and then headed to the official Batman panel. Man, this was packed, I was worried we might not get in for a second there. The panel was Grant Morrison, Paul Dini, Dustin Nguyen, Brian Azzarello, and Jerry Robinson and was mostly Q&A. Lots of questions about the Joker (seeing as how TDK had just come out and how one of the original creators of the character was there). Not many details or spoilers were given about what's going on in the current comics, although Morrison implied that it should be pretty obvious who is behind the whole Black Glove thing. As annoyed as I am with Morrison over this whole RIP storyline, I must say that enjoyed listening to his Scottish accent J And there was one part where someone asked about giving Batman guns and wouldn't that be cool (wha??? Have we been reading the same character?) and Morrison totally shut him down. He said something like, "Then he would just be another soldier. We don't need another soldier, we need Batman."

That was my last panel of the day. I tried to get into the Vertigo one, but the line was fucking ridiculous. The rest of the day was spent wandering around people-watching. Then I changed into regular clothes and headed to the airport to fly home. Whew! I had a good time, but it was exhausting as well.

I leave you with a photo of a suit from Iron Man:
