I got into San Diego Wednesday night and crashed with some friends of a friend, but the next morning it was off to the Con!

First off: Holy Crap there were a lot of people! And a lot of sweet costumes. I saw a lot of Batman-related characters (Batman, Robin (who I dressed up as on Friday!), Batgirl, Huntress, Catwoman, a TON of Jokers, Poison Ivy, Harley, etc...). But there were also the Incredibles, Shrek and Fiona, the Green Arrow Family, Black Lightning (his costume was awesome btw) and more.

Ok, now onto the panels and such...

First I went to “30 Year Anniversary of Battlestar Galactica”: Richard Hatch (Tom Zarek on the current show, Apollo on the original) was there and kind of functioned as the moderator. He was joined by the show's composer, and I think a couple of producers. They showed some clips and models from their original re-imagining of the show, before Fox dropped it and Sci Fi picked it up. They also showed a hilarious cast video, where they are wishing Bear (the composer) luck on an upcoming concert (while pretending to not really know who he is or what he does). Edward James Olmos makes awesome bear noises.

Next off I went to the Doctor Who/Torchwood panel(s) (in the same room, back to back). We saw a trailer for the new Doctor Who Christmas special and were treated to some hilarious British humor by writer Steven Moffat. Then the Torchwood panel started and some cast members came out including John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) who proceeded to pretend to make out with everyone else on the panel. It was pretty awesome, hehe.

I went down to the main floor (which was pandemonium), where I met the guys behind Tiny Titans, quite possibly the cutest comic book ever. They were really nice and I ended up buying this little mini-painting of Robin that the Art Baltazar did:

Aw Yeah, Titans!

In the afternoon, I stopped by the Bill Willingham spotlight for a hot second (and got a free one page Fables comic they did for the Con) but then I had to go to Bat-Manga! Chip Kidd and the Secret History of Batman in Japan which was a lot of fun. We got to see a lot of amazingly cracktastic stuff from the 1960s. There was one story he showed us featuring a villain named “Super Death Man” who has the power to die... and come back to life. And another one where the mayor turns into a mutant and Batman debates whether or not to shoot him with a laser. It was pretty great.

I'll post about Friday tomorrow...

Yeah, it was a blast! It's crazy, but fun, you should definitely go one year if you get the chance.

I know, I just about died when I came across the Tiny Titans booth. He had mini paintings of almost all the characters, but I had to be loyal to the Batfamily ;)

Thanks Mina! Yeah, Captain Jack was great and the Tiny Titans are too cute for words.

God, and those 60s comics... pure awesome crack. The guy is releasing a book about it at some point so hopefully then more people will get to see them.
